Childhood cancer is one of the diseases that has the greatest impact on families around the world, but it is also one of the causes that arouses enormous solidarity. In our school, we have had the opportunity to learn more about this cause and do our bit thanks to the collaboration with the Aladina Foundation<\/a><\/span> and Unoentrecienmil<\/span><\/a> who work tirelessly to improve the lives of children and teenagers with cancer. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

During this month of February, dedicated to the fight against cancer, the 4th and 5th grade students of our primary school<\/a><\/span> have had the opportunity to attend educational talks given by the staff of the Aladina Foundation. During these talks, the students have been able to learn about the difficulties faced by children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer, as well as the advances in their treatment and the ways in which society can support them. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

According to the World Health Organisation<\/a><\/span>, cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality in childhood and adolescence. In fact, every year around 400,000 children and adolescents between the ages of 0 and 19 suffer from cancer worldwide. In Spain, more than 1,600 cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2025. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

THE \"PA\u00d1UELO CHALLENGE\": CREATIVITY AND SOLIDARITY IN THE SERVICE OF THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

One of the most exciting activities we carried out at school was the Pa\u00f1ueloChallenge<\/span><\/strong>, in which both infant and primary school students have actively participated. This challenge has allowed children to design their own scarves and write messages of support for children and adolescents fighting cancer. <\/p>

More than 60% of all children diagnosed with cancer require long-term hospitalization due to intensive treatment. Hence, the importance of this type of campaign to help provide vital emotional support during these difficult times. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

BASKET DAY AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Casvi Boadilla’<\/a><\/span>s school has also joined the initiative \u201cBasketball Day against Childhood Cancer\u201d<\/a><\/span>, which consisted in donating one euro for each basket scored during the basketball championships held on February 15th and 16th. However, our school has gone further: organizing several games in which teachers and students have shared the basketball court to join forces in this noble cause. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

By contributing one euro as a solidarity ticket to watch the matches and with the collaboration of all the players, we managed to raise a total of 1,468 euros<\/strong>, which will go to research on childhood cancer. This event has not only been an excellent opportunity to practice sports, but also to promote solidarity among the entire educational community, demonstrating that when we all unite, the results are greater. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

These types of initiatives remind us that we can all make a small gesture to make a big impact.
