Today, on World Diabetes Day, the 3rd grade students of our charter nursery school have taken an important step to learn about this disease in a very special way. Through a creative and educational activity, the little ones have become aware of the importance of taking care of their health and understanding what diabetes is.
WHY IS CELEBRATING WORLD DIABETES DAY SO IMPORTANT?
Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects how the body handles blood sugar. According to the Spanish Diabetes Society (SED), our country is second on the list with the highest rate of diabetes in Europe .And it continues to grow, especially with the increase of cases in children and adolescents.
This World Diabetes Day reminds us of the importance of detecting the disease early, promoting healthy habits and ensuring access to appropriate treatment.
Preventing diabetes is possible with a balanced diet, regular exercise and glucose monitoring.
WORLD DIABETES DAY WITH CREATIVE ACTIVITIES
The kindergarten students have immersed themselves in diabetes day in a very original way: coloring beautiful drawings with the symbol of diabetes and cute glucometers. Meanwhile, they have learned about how diabetes affects the body and what actions they can take to take care of themselves from an early age.
To make the experience even more complete, the parents of one of our students, a diabetes patient, came to read a very special story about diabetes. The story was not only charming, but also an excellent opportunity for the little ones to understand in a simple way what diabetes is, how it affects people and why it is so important to take care of themselves through healthy habits.
