Critical thinking, the ability to argue logically and the art of expressing oneself clearly are fundamental skills in 21st century education. Activities such as philosophy debates in the General Baccalaureate allow students to apply their knowledge in real environments and develop key skills for their future. At Casvi Boadilla School, we understand education as a complete experience that goes far beyond the classroom.
NATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PHILOSOPHY DEBATE

Our 1st Bachillerato students have represented Casvi Boadilla School in the XII edition of the TIDE School Debate Competition, organised at the Francisco de Vitoria University. This event brought together students from different schools to debate current issues from an ethical and argumentative approach.
In this edition, the teams tackled the question: “Are unemployment policies in Spain adequate”, a topic that has given rise to a deep reflection. Our students showed an excellent attitude, great preparation and active participation in all phases of the debate. Through the different roles – introduction, argumentation, rebuttal and conclusion – they were able to organise their ideas, work as a team and communicate clearly.
In addition, two secondary school students also took part in the event as members of the organising staff. Both have lived a very special experience during the final held in the Senate, despite the fact that the event coincided with the blackout suffered throughout the peninsula.

LEARNING AND VALUES IN THE BACCALAUREATE PHILOSOPHY DEBATE
Beyond the competitive result, this activity represents one of the pillars of the educational project of Colegio Casvi Boadilla. The philosophy debate in Baccalaureate is an educational tool that promotes analysis, respect for different points of view and reasoned argumentation, as well as teamwork. For our students, it has been a unique opportunity for personal and academic growth.

TRAINING THAT GOES BEYOND ACADEMICS
Participating in the TIDE School Debate Competition has been a formative and inspiring experience for our students. At Casvi Boadilla School we believe that activities such as the philosophy debate in Baccalaureate prepare our students for the challenges of a society that needs young people with criteria, ethics and capacity for dialogue.
