LANGUAGES IN CASVI BOADILLA
At Casvi Boadilla, we believe that the mastery of languages is a necessity in today's world, a fundamental value in the methodology of the International Baccalaureate, which prepares our students to have a global mindset.
We believe that mastering several languages is, nowadays, an indispensable requirement for our students. Children and young people are growing up in an increasingly interconnected world. Therefore, through languages, we are aware that we are training the leaders of the future, whose jobs will be international and who will need, more than ever, the ability to communicate with people from all over the world in a simple and effective way.
To make this possible, our students are introduced to English from the very beginning and begin to learn French when they move on to High School.
ENGLISH FROM 1 YEAR OLD TO 18 YEARS OLD
English classes are taught from the age of one to the Baccalaureate. In languages, especially in the first stage, what is most important is the learning of expressions and vocabulary, following the different units of inquiry; and of sounds, using the phonetic method based on Jolly Phonics, as well as materials created by the teachers themselves.
All this, in a playful, dynamic, and participatory way, through games and songs. In this way, they naturally improve their comprehension and expression, both oral and written. In addition, the youngest children have two sessions a week of Psychomotor skills in English.
SMALL GROUPS
From 1st grade of Ed. In High School, French is taught as a second foreign language by bilingual and native teachers. This subject is curricular throughout the Secondary School stage.
In addition, in 1st year of Bachillerato, we teach French in the Humanities option, two hours per week in small groups. In these classes, the emphasis is on oral and written expression. The main objective, focusing on languages, is to develop their international mindset while studying the culture and traditions of French-speaking countries.
From Ed. Primary to Bachillerato, we work in small groups. In them, our students have conversational classes to improve their fluency and spontaneity, through role-plays and the presentation of other projects.
With this international mentality, as a school interested in language learning, we intend to encourage, work, and experiment with recreating traditions from countries around the world. Celebrations as Halloween, St. Patrick’s, Thanksgiving…
EXAMS
By learning several languages, we put our students at an advantage. In addition, we offer the opportunity to take the Cambridge University English tests (Starters, Movers, Flyers, KET, PET, First and Advanced).
