EDUCATIONAL MODEL
Casvi Boadilla is a charter school with International Baccalaureate, one of the few in the Community of Madrid. We officially became an IB World School in 2019. We obtained the authorization of the International Baccalaureate in the Primary School Program (PYP) after a long and rigorous process that began in December 2015. Since 2020 we also have the authorization of the Middle Years Program (MYP).
IB METHODOLOGY
The International Baccalaureate is an educational model through which we stimulate students in their academic learning as well as in personal growth. As a charter school with International Baccalaureate, our teachers have received the necessary training and we have modified our infrastructure to offer our students a quality education.
In this methodology, inquiry, conceptual learning, and experimentation are the keys to our students’ development. At the IB charter school, students are at the center of the educational process. They ask questions, investigate, and reflect on the knowledge they acquire, thus developing their critical and analytical skills. In this process, the teacher becomes a guide and ceases to be a mere transmitter of knowledge.
IB PROFILE ATTRIBUTES
With the IB methodology, students at the IB charter school develop and internalize the ten attributes of the IB profile throughout their academic career:
INQUIRERS
OPEN-MINDED
PRINCIPLED
THINKERS
REFLEXIVE
RISK-TAKERS
COMMUNICATORS
KOWLEDGEABLE
CARING
BALANCED
QUALITY
Our main mission is to provide quality education. For this reason, we seek continuous improvement, adapting to the needs of society and our students, training our staff in techniques and quality tools since 2006. Thus, we are accredited by the most important certifying agencies, which leads us to offer the highest quality teaching.
EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management – European Total Quality Model
EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management – European Total Quality Model). A management model that we introduced in 2007 with the first self-evaluation of the school, and which led us to establish a management system aimed at the continuous improvement of our work.
EFQM, through the Excellence in Management Club, awards 4 recognitions: Commited with quality (+200 points); +300 points; +400 points; and +500 points.
Our center obtained the European Seal of Excellence +300 in 2010. Five years later, it was awarded the highest recognition, +500 points, which we renewed in 2017. And again, during 2024 it has been awarded again with this Seal, which demonstrates the interest of our center to offer quality education.
MADRID EXCELENTE
Within the regional excellence model, and after an evaluation with objectives similar to those of the EFQM, we have also been recognized with the “Madrid Excelente” mark. Shortly thereafter, in 2012, we received the Madrid Excelente “customer trust” award, which shows, once again, that our management has been externally recognized.
AENOR (with the requirements of the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2000 standard).
AENOR (with the requirements of the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2000 standard). Our educational processes have undergone quality controls since 2007, with the parameters established by the management.
MORE AWARDS
In our quest for continuous improvement, we have received more awards. These are the most outstanding:
- Honorable mention from the Complutense University of Madrid for having students with the best grades in the University Entrance Exams in five of seven high school graduating classes.
- Educational Innovation Award 2016 (Madridiario)
- Joining the organizing committee of the Education Forum of the Club de Excelencia en Gestión.
INNOVATION
At Casvi Boadilla, charter school with IB, we adapt to the demands of society and we want our students to be able to adapt to the changes and challenges of their future. For this reason, from the very beginning, we have been involved in their academic and personal learning. In this way, we believe it is necessary to bet on those tools that are appropriate at all times to offer quality education to our students and also prepare them to adapt to the needs of today’s society.
That is why we are committed to technological and educational innovation.
EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION
During the last few years, we have been working with the teaching methods promoted by the International Baccalaureate organization: PYP (Early Childhood and Primary Education) and MYP (High Education). Thus, we follow a constructivist work method in which inquiry, research, and experimentation in a playful way are the key to the acquisition of knowledge by students. Because the best way to learn and maintain knowledge is for students to experience it firsthand.
TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION
We have introduced new technologies in the classroom as a tool to improve the learning of our students and that, through a correct and responsible use, they can improve their academic performance. In the classrooms we have interactive and tactile whiteboards, computers, and video projectors.
From 3rd grade onwards, we introduce students to the digital world with Technology, Programming and Robotics and, from 5th grade onwards, each student uses iPads to enhance and expand their knowledge and develop skills to solve the challenges they face. On the iPads, our students have at their disposal textbooks created by the teachers of our school.
In addition, in Casvi Boadilla, we have developed an Intranet so that communication between parents, teachers and students is fast and efficient. It can also be used via cell phone through an app.
ECO - CASVI
Eco-Casvi arises from the center’s intention to improve the environmental policy and raise awareness among the educational community of the need to respect and care for our planet.. It was in 2010 when our staff was trained in the techniques and tools of Quality and Environment, and Eco-Casvi emerged in the 2017-2018 school year.
Since then, Eurocolegio Casvi Boadilla has actively participated in the Eco-Schools program, as a result of which a series of procedures have been carried out. First of all, a Environmental Committee and an audit to find out where the center was starting from in environmental matters.
Once the school’s environmental needs and priorities were determined, an Action Plan was created, which is reviewed every year, to carry out activities that imply an improvement in relation to issues such as water, waste, energy and biodiversity. In this way, improvements are made to the school and its social and environmental surroundings. Finally, an Environmental Code of Conduct was created.
Eco-Casvi carries out environmental awareness activities, workshops and outings. For example, the workshop on the different types of waste and the importance of recycling correctly and on vermicomposting and the circular economy.
Every Eco-Casvi project is also included in the inquiry units where students investigate energy and biodiversity, such as Ecosystems, in which they have investigated the different environmental factors and how they condition the biodiversity of a place.
For all this good work carried out, this academic year 2023-24 our center has once again renewed the Green Flag. in environmental matters.
