The return to school is an important time for both children and families. At our school, this first week of settling in has been an experience full of emotions, new challenges and great achievements.
The pupils have begun to familiarise themselves with the daily routines at school: timetables, arrival and departure times, classroom activities, the dining hall, the playground and their new classmates. It is all part of this adaptation process, which is so fundamental in the early stages of schooling.
CHILDREN: THE REAL STARS OF THE WEEK
These have been unusual days for all our early years pupils. Without a doubt, the little ones at this stage have been the stars of the show. For many, this has been their first experience in a school environment, and they have shown an ability to adapt that makes us feel excited and proud.
Although not every day is the same—some with tears, others with big smiles—each one has taken important steps towards independence and confidence. That is why, in recognition of their courage, they have received a very special medal: ‘I am a big boy’ . A small symbolic gesture that represents a big step in their lives.

WHY IS SCHOOL ADAPTATION SO IMPORTANT FOR CHILDREN?
Adapting to school is not just a logistical process: it is also emotional, social and affective. Successful adaptation:
- Promotes bonding with educators.
- Develops independence.
- Reduces separation anxiety.
- Establishes a secure emotional foundation for learning.
At our Casvi Boadilla state-subsidised school in Madrid, we work through this stage in a respectful, progressive and supportive manner, ensuring that every child feels like the protagonist of their own learning process during their early schooling.
A MESSAGE OF THANKS TO THE FAMILIES
The school would like to thank all families for their commitment and cooperation during this school adaptation process. We know that leaving your little ones at school for the first time is not always easy, but your trust and support make it possible for every child to feel accompanied and secure.
MOMENTS WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD
Throughout the week, we captured many of these unique moments: surprised faces, hugs, shared games… and, of course, the ‘I’m a Senior’ medals! We invite you to visit our image gallery.
